We collect as little as we can, only what you choose to send us, and we never sell it. This page explains exactly what that means on homepark.ca.
Who we are
homepark.ca is run by HomePark.ca Management, a local Ontario operator of land-lease communities. We are responsible for the personal information collected through this website, and we follow Canada's federal privacy law (PIPEDA) and anti-spam law (CASL).
Questions or requests about your information go to our back office at info@homepark.ca.
What we collect
Only what you type into a form or send us. Depending on what you do, that is:
- Waitlist sign-ups: your email address, which form and page you used, and when you signed up. After your email, a few questions are optional: the communities you're interested in, how you'd like to move in and the price range you're looking at, when you'd move, the bedrooms you need, whether anyone moving in is 55 or older, details of a home you'd bring (including the town it's in now), your name, phone number, how you'd like us to reach you, and any question you write in. We use these answers only to send you homes and lots that fit; they are never used to decide who gets a home.
- Applying to live in a community: your name, email, phone number, the community you're interested in, whether you want to buy or rent-to-own, and any message you add.
- Listing your home for sale: your name, email, phone number, the community and lot, details of the home (bedrooms, bathrooms, size, asking price, sale type) and any message.
- Selling a park or investor inquiries: your name, email, phone number, and what you tell us about the property or your interest.
- Emailing us: your email address and whatever you write.
We don't ask for income, government ID, health or family details, or anything else sensitive through this website. The waitlist's price ranges describe the homes you're looking for, not your finances. Approval checks for new residents (credit, background and income) happen separately, with your consent. Some forms may not be available at all times; this policy covers each of them when they are.
Like any website, our hosting provider briefly sees technical details of each visit, such as your IP address and browser, so it can deliver pages and block abuse. We don't use those to identify you.
How we use it
- To answer your question or follow up on your request.
- To review an application or a home listing, and to contact you about it.
- To email you when a home or lot that fits what you told us is listed, if you asked us to, and to text or call you instead if you chose that.
- To keep the website working, secure and free of spam.
We don't sell, rent or trade your information, and we don't use it for advertising. If we ever want to use it for something new, we'll ask you first.
Consent and email alerts
By sending a form, you agree to us using your information for the purpose of that form. Joining the waitlist is your express consent to receive emails from HomePark.ca Management about homes and lots; we keep a record of when and where you signed up and the wording you agreed to. If you choose text messages as the way to reach you, that is your consent to texts about homes and lots too; reply STOP to any text to end them.
Every alert email has an unsubscribe link, and we stop sending alerts as soon as you use it. You can withdraw any other consent by emailing info@homepark.ca; we may then be unable to process an application that depends on it.
Where it's stored
Our service providers may store or process your information outside Canada, including in the United States. While it is there, it may be accessible to courts and authorities in that country under its laws.
How long we keep it
We keep your information only as long as we need it for the purpose you gave it to us, or as long as the law requires, and then delete it. Waitlist sign-ups stay active until you unsubscribe; we then delete your answers and keep only a record of your consent and opt-out.
How we protect it
Information is sent over encrypted connections, stored with providers that encrypt it, and our staff tools are password-protected. No system is perfectly secure, but if a breach ever created a real risk of significant harm to you, we would tell you and the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, as the law requires.
Your choices and rights
You can ask us to:
- tell you what information we hold about you and how we've used it,
- correct anything that's wrong, or
- delete it, where we don't need to keep it for legal reasons.
Email info@homepark.ca and we'll respond within 30 days. We may ask you to confirm who you are first. If you're not satisfied with our answer, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
Changes and contact
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page. For any question about privacy, email our back office at info@homepark.ca.
